We are The Hyphn, a creative studio that specializes in 3D, CGI and VFX. We love to work with new age musicians who want to express their vision through immersive and captivating visuals.
That’s why we were thrilled when we got the opportunity to collaborate with Noll, a talented artist who blends electronic music with soulful vocals.
Noll approached us with his song “Afterlife”, which explores the concept of life after death and the journey of the soul. He wanted us to create a 3D music video and album art that would reflect his message and style. We were excited to take on this challenge and bring his ideas to reality.
The Process of 3D Music Video
We started by having a brainstorming session with Noll, where we discussed his vision, inspiration, and preferences. He shared with us some references and mood boards that he liked, and we also suggested some of our own. We agreed on a general direction and theme for the project: a contrast between heaven and hell, light and dark, peace and chaos.
Next, we moved on to the storyboarding phase, where we pre-visualized the whole video and scenes in between. We used sketches and rough animations to show Noll how the video would flow and transition. The main character of the video is a person who dies and experiences different scenarios of the afterlife. He walks into a grassland cliff at the side of the seashore, then levitates and flies up towards the sky. Then, the video shifts from the scenes of hell to heaven parallelly, showing the contrast between the two realms.
After getting Noll’s approval on the storyboard, we proceeded to the production phase, where we used our 3D, CGI and VFX skills to create the final video. We used various software and tools such as Blender, Cinema 4D, After Effects, Photoshop, etc. to model, animate, render, composite, and edit the video. We paid attention to every small detail, such as the lighting, textures, colors, camera angles, etc. to make sure that the video matched Noll’s vision and expectations.
We also created the album art for Noll’s song, using the same theme and style as the video. We designed two versions of the album art: one where the main character is falling from heaven to hell, and another where he is being dragged by some supernatural energy upwards to the sky to the gate of heaven.
The Result
We are very proud of how the project turned out. We think that we captured Noll’s essence and message in a visually stunning way. The video and album art are both eye-catching and engaging, and they complement Noll’s music perfectly.
